Photographer Spotlight: John Devries

This week's photographer spotlight highlights the work of John Devries.
Devries is a wildlife photographer from Kent, UK, whose works have been widely published and exhibited. In 2006, he even made a short TV show with the BBC about wildlife photography.
Devries's photographs highlight the vast number of wild animal species he has encountered on his adventures close to home and around the globe.
Not only do I love what he photographs, but I also love the way he photographs it. Each of the animals seem to be carefully and deliberately framed so that they are clearly emphasized.
I find his use of color, angle, and depth of field to be absolutely brilliant.
Even his macro work is fantastic! ((I think macro-photography fascinating.))

Having seen some of Devreis's shots of wildlife, I'm feeling a little inspired to check out some local conservation areas and state parks to see what kind of wildlife I can find.

Photographer Spotlight: Sharon Montrose

This week's photographer spotlight features the work of Sharon Montrose.
Sharon Montrose is a highly sought-after commercial photographer who specializes in working with animals.

Her online gallery and store feature a number of pet, farm, and wildlife photos. Many are taken in a studio setting with a simple white or colored background that emphasizes the animal.
Others, especially those of cats or dogs, are done out on location.
Montrose has an amazing ability to capture the movement and expression of the animals in her work.

The combination of color, shadows and highlights, and the actual subjects themselves, work together in these photographs to create an incredible sense of intimacy and even playfulness.

All of the photos you have seen here today are unnamed pieces that I especially liked.
If you too liked these photos, you can check out more of Montrose's work on her website: http://www.sharonmontrose.com.
