"The Duration of an All Nighter"

  1. This person is showing both the exhausting attribute of having to work all night and the process of trying to find something to pass time when their seems to be nothing that they can do at the moment. overall I am very impressed she was even able to get in reflections in the table just right there is no sign of error anywhere I can see in these images from what I can see. all nighter seems the best to me.

  2. 1. Each of the images meet the criteria, nice work!

    2. In the passing time photo, I think the artist is trying to portray what she'd be doing if she were to be waiting on something. In the duration of an all nighter photo, we all can relate to this one because of college and staying up late whether it be homework or partying or whatever. Studying, reading, on the computer and working on an art project are all things we can relate to.

    3. There are no technical issues I see or that bother me.

    4. I think the duration of the all nighter is the best one because it has more interesting things added to the background versus the passing time when theres nothing but a blank wall. In the duration of an all nighter, I can move my eyes all around the photo and It really grabs my attention.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and break(:

  3. I agree with Kelsy on this one, the criteria has been met, and both pieces show that you took time and knew what you were doing by overlapping your subjects in both rather than keeping them all apart without causing any technical issues. I do feel like these two photos do have almost the exact locations of the subjects, but it kind of allows one to see that these two opposite actions do tend to come hand-in-hand, at least for me haha. I think that the All-Nighter is more successful because the picture has motion, a timeline of how all-nighters usually go, and have a more interesting background .

  4. 1. Fits criteria.
    2. The first one is her hanging out and the second is pulling an all nighter. I like that even though the pictures are similar, you can tell the difference in time because of the outfit changes. She is in the same clothing for the all nighter, and the other seems like things that she does inbetween doing her other daily tasks.
    3. No technical issues.
    4. I like the second one better because I can relate to it better. I think that it is also spaced out more evenly which makes it more appealing.

  5. 1. Both images meet the criteria and are well constructed for this assignment. You can immediately tell she planned out how she was going to set it up and space them out.
    2. The artist is expressing her feeling through the different situations you find her in. You can see her emotions toward studying in “The Duration of an All Nighter” and expressing emotions we all have towards studying.
    3. I don’t see any technical issues, I feel it was well planned and constructed.
    4. I think “The Duration of an All Nighter” was the most successful because of the different emotions, faces and the good planning.

  6. 1. Both images meet the criteria of the assignment.
    2. In "Passing the Time" she is showing what she enjoys to do on her free time and judging by her faces she is very happy. In "The Duration of an All Nighter" she is showing the effects of procrastination and hecticly having to do something the night before.
    3. As for technical issues I don't see any, however while I feel that her acknowledging the camera makes the images stand out the ways she made it look like a snapshot takes away something from the photos.
    4. I believe "The Duration of an All Nighter" is the most successful in the way it portrays the different aspects of staying up all night to do something.

  7. Both Images meet the criteria, I like them both very much especially how you were able to capture yourself looking at the camera in both pictures.
    1. in Passing the time I like that you give it depth by letting us know that its over a days time by changing clothes, its not just the same day. I also enjoy the positions they overlap but not too much and still give off that inviting sense and it doesn't look forced. Its almost as if this person is waiting on something or just trying to be patient long enough to find something else to do.
    2. The duration of the all nighter, I love how you are sleeping on one of the books. To me that is what an all nighter really means. I tend to do the same thing when pulling an all nighter. I really enjoy the idea that it tells a story and there's a timeline of your night studying and working on homework something we all know too well.

I believe The Duration of an all Nighter was the most successful, its inviting, it has meaning, it portrays the idea that it may take all night but it will get done.

  8. 1. Both images meet the criteria of this assignment by having 2 images with 4 selves in each.

    2. In "Passing the Time," I wanted to show just a few of the different ways I spend my free time. Watching TV is a somewhat regular way of passing the time for me, and it's always great to get to sit down with a good book. I also actually really enjoy doing crossword puzzles every once in a while, and snacking is something I think a lot of us find ourselves doing when we take a little break. And I love to play games (that's where the cards come in). Overall, my intention was to illustrate downtime in my life, and I wanted this image to exhibit a tone of relaxation.
In "The Duration of an All Nighter," I wanted to show a timeline of staying up late to get work done on time -- something I'm all too familiar with. I think it shows the emotional change as well as the transition from one task to another. Ideally, the timeline starts with the figure working at the computer. Notice the smiling face? The stress hasn't started to set in yet. Next, it would move to the figure working over the art project an concentrating on getting it done. And then the timeline shifts to the bed. First, with the figure who is sitting up, studying, and either really trying to focus or simply getting frustrated/tired. And then, the timeline ends with the figure who has fallen asleep on their book. The timeline begins with energy and ends with exhaustion.

    3. I don't think there are any technical issues. If I were to make any changes, I would consider changing the location/environment for the first image. I was really iffy about the environment, but in the end, I thought that it worked well enough for a scene about taking a break from the hectic world because the environment is so simple and without distraction. I also wanted the focus to be on me and not on the surroundings because those activities could really take place anywhere.

    4. I'd have to say that my most successful image was "The Duration of an All Nighter." As others have said, the scene is more interesting than the first, and I think the layout of the figures is more appealing. Also, because it's in a space that I have organized and that I spend a lot of time in, I think it shows a more accurate representation of myself as an individual.

  9. 1) Both images meet the criteria of the assignment.
    2) I feel like the background of the first photo is kind of plain.. But it works for the photo.. passing time is sometimes boring.. and the lack of decor really helps the content of the photo.
3)I like your interaction with the camera in the 2nd photo.. Its very "Im pretending like I enjoy all nighter's" kind of smile.
4)I feel like the two photos are too similar.. m

  10. 1) The images meet the criteria or fulfill the assignment.

    2) "Passing the Time" shows what someone would do if they didn't really have anything to do at the moment and wasn't sure of what to do. "The Duration of an All Nighter" shows what it's like being a student and trying to get all of their work finished on time. I can definately relate to that.

    3) There are no technical difficulties that I see or that bother me.

    4) Both images are done well and it's hard to choose between them. In "Passing the Time" I enjoy the variation in the color of the clothes and the activities that they're doing. In "The Duration of an All Nighter" I really enjoy the surroundings. The focus is more on what it's like being a student and working hard. The room also gives a bit of personality to the person. I love the lighting, figures, interactions, and surroundings.

  11. 1. Meets criteria.

    2. Passing time seems very laid back, but the all nighter image shows the same student doing multiple things all at once, which is VERY relatable.

    3. No technical issues.

    4. My favorite is the All Nighter image because it is something every college student goes through, or does. Even falling asleep in your book, I just thought it was planned and executed very well.
